It is held to a high level in quality and relevance to undergraduate structures in the world's leading universities. Field visits, study tours, projects, and a rigorous internship structure contribute to the program's learning depth.

Students, in order to supplement classroom learning with on-field exposure generally take up internships between the semesters. As a part of the project module, the students are required to do two development sector internships and two industry internships.

The Development Sector Internships provide students with direct exposure to issues at the grassroots level and the experience they required to become socially-committed and sensitised media professionals. Our students work with big and small NGOs and voluntary organisations. In their first semester the students have the option of interning with small organisations that may be doing exemplary work, in their hometowns.

With Industry Internships, our students get direct exposure to the sector, hands-on training, work experience and an opportunity to hone their skills under guidance from professionals. In their final year, they intern with companies in their area of specialisation. A number of our students in the past have been taken on as full-time employees at the places where they have interned. We are actively working to create a support network of SCMC alumni, who are spread across the media industry, to become mentors and guides, and strengthen our internship programme.

At SCMC, we have pro-active internship and placement cells consisting of student coordinators and faculty supervisors. Our placement record has been very robust at around 80% over the years. On average, around half the students graduating with a BA from SCMC or BBA from SCMC choose enroll for higher studies at universities in India or abroad. Of the remaining some opt to work freelance, continue their internships or pursue other interests.
